The partnership of churches comprising "LOVE Christian Clearinghouse" have faithfully served DuPage County since 1985 through the following outreach programs:
The LOVE Help Program
The LOVE Help program helps the working poor and fixed income poor avoid eviction or maintain basic utilties by providing emergency financial assistance for rent, utilities, or car repairs to access work. We verify the temporary nature of the problem and work with community agencies and churches to ensure the entire need can be met. All payments are made directly to the service provider.
Education & Community Resource Referral Program
LOVE has an extensive data base of community and church resources. We connect callers with local agencies or church ministries to address immediate needs and to address the underlying causes of their financial distress. We listen 'between the lines' and try to offer self-help programs to help callers improve their current situation and begin to transform their lives.
Pastor Calls
We often speak to our callers during some of the worst days of their lives. We connect local pastors with our callers who need someone to minister to them in person.
Bible Distribution
Our Bible Distribution ministry provides a Bible to callers who long to hear His word. Consider it a small gift, with LOVE.
Toy Express
Each Christmas we compile a list of children from the families we have assisted throughout the year to participate in the annual Toy Express program. Many of these children - who will receive up to 3 gifts each - might otherwise not have had the joy of opening gifts Christmas morning. Church collect toys and books to be distributed each year - call 630-512-8673 to participate this year!
Helping Hands Refugee Program
Have you ever thought what it would be like to be sent to a foreign country without any preparation? All you can take is what you can carry in your arms. Our program reaches out to refugees from Myanmar and Africa who need to learn basic daily living skills, language and budgeting skills. Our weekly meetings are designed to apply practical lessions and put them into action.
Cleaning Supplies - Bucket Brigades!
Businesses in Westmont and churches from Bensenville to Clarendon Hills are filling buckets with cleaning supplies to be distributed at local church food pantries. Organize a Bucket Brigade at your church today - call 630-512-8673!
Laces with LOVE - Gym shoes for local school children
LOVE pairs churches and young children from local schools together to put their 'best foot forward' for school! Church members collect shoes for pre-identified children in a local school during the summer. Right before school begins, LOVE and church volunteers distribute the gyms shoes to grateful parents.
